Our recent visit to Cintacor Island Resort (a boutique resort in Karwar Karnataka) was nothing short of magical—an exhilarating offbeat discovery that felt like stepping into a hidden haven.
Nestled amidst lush forests and surrounded by the serene blue waters of the Arabian Sea, this exclusive retreat offered the perfect blend of luxury and tranquility.
We stayed in a private sea side cabin, where each day began with an enchanting morning walk along the undulating forest trails, winding past the ancient walls of the ruined Kurumgad Fort, which dates back to the Chola dynasty. With the endless horizon stretching before us, and the sparkling blue sea below, it felt like we had uncovered a secret paradise, untouched by time.
Amongst many others, one of the highlight of our stay was the dolphin cruise, where we witnessed playful dolphins in their natural habitat. It was truly a serene escape, offering both adventure and tranquility in equal measure.

In the evening, as the horizon kissed the sky, we set out on an unforgettable sunset cruise from Cintacor Island Resort. Drifting over the calm, glassy waters, we were treated to a symphony of colors—fiery oranges, radiant pinks, and streaks of gold blending seamlessly with the deepening blue. The sun, a glowing ember, sank slowly toward the horizon, casting its golden glow across the endless expanse of the Arabian Sea. The gentle lapping of waves against the boat, the soft whispers of the wind, and the stunning panorama of light and shadow created a moment that felt both fleeting and eternal—truly, a breathtaking spectacle etched into our memories forever.
A Serene Escape to a Secluded Resort for Adventure and Tranquility!
What beats sweating it out on our home treadmill? An hour and a half undulating forested morning walk along the walls of the ruined Kurumgad Fort (built perhaps during the reign of the Cholas) with the blue waters of the Arabian Sea sparkling down below and stretching endlessly! On the trail, got to meet a few birds; Eurasian hoopoe, paradise flycatcher, sunbird, red whiskered bulbul, pair of drongos, flock of egrets, white bellied sea eagle, Brahminy and black kites. Also a couple of terrapins in a small pond.
Endless Horizons from the Infinity Pool
From the edge of the spectacular infinity pool, we watched in awe as the sunset painted the sky with vibrant hues, blending oranges, pinks, and purples. The breathtaking view seemed almost within reach, as if the colors of the sky were so close they could be touched, creating a surreal and unforgettable moment.
Sun, Sand and Adventure on the Azure Seas
Unwind on the soft, sun-kissed sands as the gentle waves of the azure waters wash over you. Whether you’re seeking a peaceful retreat by the shore or an adrenaline-pumping adventure on the open water, this destination offers the best of both worlds. Here one can feel the rush of adrenaline while zipping across the shimmering blue waters on a jet ski or balance atop a giant inflatable banana boat. But when it came to truly soaking in the beauty around, nothing beat our favorite sport— kayaking along the serene shores. As we paddled, the stunning vistas unfolded before us, each one more awe-inspiring than the last. It was like the world slowed down, and with each stroke, we felt a wave of calm wash over us —an experience that was nothing short of therapeutic.
To top off the adventure, we embarked on a dolphin cruiseon a Speed Boat that felt like the grand finale to an unforgettable journey. As we sailed across the water, we were treated to a magical performance—dolphins leaping and frolicking in the wild, their playful antics a joyful reminder of the beauty and freedom of the natural world. Watching them dance in the waves was the perfect way to end an incredible day.
